Capital University junior Mark Williams has been selected Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week for the week ending April 8, the league announced Tuesday.

Williams, a Carroll, Ohio, native, tied a program record and posted a round-low 69 on the second day of the Muskingum Spring Invitational over the weekend. His total score of 144 was good for a tie for second overall to lead the Crusaders to a tie for third place at the tournament.

Williams' big weekend helped Capital set school records for best one-round team total (293 strokes) and best two-round score (606).

The Crusaders look to follow up on their record-setting performance with a strong showing at the OAC Spring Invitational on April 15-16 at Rattlesnake Ridge in Sunbury, Ohio.

Williams currently ranks second on the team in scoring average (79.4) and has a pair of top-10 finishes this season. He was an All-OAC selection last season after finishing among the top 10 at the conference championship meet.

Each week, OAC coaches and sports information directors nominate student-athletes for each sport in season for the award.
