Capital University freshman Jared Judson was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending April 7, the league announced Monday.

Judson, a Dublin, Ohio, native, was a perfect 3-0 in both singles and doubles matches last week to help the Crusaders (9-3 overall, 4-0 OAC) win two of three dual matches and maintain their perfect mark in conference play.

In a 5-4 setback against Cedarville on Wednesday, Judson defeated Josh Van Zandt 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6 singles. At No. 3 doubles, Judson teamed with freshman Gian Carlo DiMichelangelo (Westerville, Ohio) to knock off Van Zandt and Adam Levesque by an 8-3 score.

Judson continued his strong play over the weekend with victories over Wilmington and at Marietta. He beat Wilmington's Ron Sansone 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles after pairing with DiMichelangelo for an 8-0 triumph over Sansone and Jesse Ingles.

On Saturday at Marietta, Judson and DiMichelangelo bested Andy Knauff and Tanner Sigman 8-5 before Judson posted a 6-3, 7-5 win over Taimuru Ahmed.

For the season, Judson is 8-3 in both singles and doubles play, including a 4-0 record in league doubles and a 3-0 mark against conference singles competition.

Capital takes on fellow OAC unbeaten Baldwin Wallace at home this Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

Each week, OAC coaches and sports information directors nominate student-athletes for each sport in season for the award.
