The Capital University track and field teams competed Friday at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet and the Ohio Wesleyan Open.
Senior Emma McCarron (Mansfield, Ohio; above) set a school record in the 5,000-meter run at GVSU, posting a time of 17:54.65, which is currently the 24th-best time in NCAA Division III. Junior Caitlin Prange (Columbus, Ohio) also competed at Grand Valley State, posting a mark of 59.89 in the 400-meter dash.
At Ohio Wesleyan, the men competed in seven individual events and one relay, while the women took part in six different individual events.
For the men, freshman Kyle Mushill (Pickerington, Ohio) placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 43-05.75, while senior Mitch Auchmuty (Cygnet, Ohio) finished third in the shot put with a mark of 44-07.00. Senior Justin Poole (Toronto, Ohio) was fourth in the high jump at 5-06.00.
Senior Leanne Schaefer (Verona, Wis.) posted a mark of 4-10.25 in the high jump, good for a tie for first place in the event. Senior Shelby Morris (Columbus, Ohio) finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 40-02.75.
The Crusaders continue action tomorrow at the All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein. Events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. in Westerville, Ohio.
