Women’s Tennis Posts Strong Effort in Fall Season Finale

COLUMBUS - The Capital University women's tennis team fought gamely on its home courts Saturday afternoon, falling by a 9-0 count against Wooster in a dual match.

While Capital didn't win an individual match, they were far more competitive than when these two teams hooked up in Northeast Ohio last March. Wooster swept the 3 doubles courts to open the match, but Capital kept it close with scores of 8-3, 8-5 and 8-4, respectively, at the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 spots.

Sophomore Betsey McLaughlin (Granville, Ohio) battled for three tough sets on the first singles court before falling to Kelsey Jenkins 6-1, 2-6, 6-2. Competing in her first collegiate match, freshman Corinne Hohenstein (Sidney, Ohio) played impressively at No. 6 singles, dropping a close 6-4, 6-4 decision.

The Crusaders conclude their short fall season with a 1-1 mark. They'll return to action in the spring with matches from late February through the end of April.
