Capital Women's Tennis Moves to 2-0

The Capital University women's tennis team won its second match in as many tries this fall on Friday, defeating Earlham 5-1 in a rain-shortened dual match at Richmond, Ind.

Capital jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead thanks to dominant 8-0 doubles victories by the No. 2 duo of sophomore Alyssa Trier (Venetia, Pa.) and freshman Jennie Schott (Pickerington, Ohio) and senior Collyn Weaver (Upper Sandusky, Ohio) and sophomore Corinne Hohenstein (Sidney, Ohio), the No. 3 pair.

Sophomore Rebecca Hunt (Cincinnati, Ohio) padded the lead with a 6-2, 6-0 win at sixth singles, followed by Schott and Trier finishing the victory with singles wins at the third and fourth slots, respectively.

Three other singles matches were in progress before play was halted due to inclement weather.

The Crusaders continue fall play on the road Thursday at Bluffton. Match time is slated for 3:30 p.m. in Bluffton, Ohio.
