The Capital University track & field teams set two more school records on Thursday and Friday at the North Central College Gregory Final Qualifier in Naperville, Ill.
The meet represented the final chance for the Crusaders to post nationally-qualifying times for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which begin Thursday in Claremont, Calif.
For the third meet in a row, the women's 4x100-meter relay team of seniors Kwesi Seabrook (Dayton, Ohio), Sarah Trick (Tipp City, Ohio), junior Aimee Hall (Amanda, Ohio) and sophomore Caitlin Prange (Columbus, Ohio) broke its own school record in the race. The quartet's time of 3:51.75 placed it second and bested the 3:53.88 it ran on Tuesday at the Ron Althoff Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan. Friday's mark is also the 18th-best in NCAA Division III.
On the men's side, junior Josh Woods (Marysville, Ohio; above right) shattered the long jump record, which stood for over 75 years. Woods recorded a mark of 23-08.25, good for third place and the No. 18 leap in the nation to date.
Woods also competed in the 200-meter dash, registering a time of 22.25. Freshman Travon Bodrick (New Albany, Ohio) also competed for the men, finishing seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 46-00.75.
Junior Emily Sheets (Gahanna, Ohio) was the lone other participant on the women's side. Sheets finished fifth in the discus (137-01) and placed tied for 18th in the high jump (4-11.00).
The NCAA Division III Championship qualifying list will be final on Sunday by 6 a.m. EST. Visit ncaa.com for the latest information.
