The Capital University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the All-Ohio Cross Country Championships Saturday in Cedarville, Ohio.

The Capital women's team placed 17th out of 21 Division III schools with a total time of 1:53:33.28, while the men's cross country team finished 20th out of 22 schools with a mark of 2:23:12.17.

Freshman Ed Wigton (Lucas, Ohio) paced the way for the Crusader men with a time of 28:13.50 becoming the first freshman in either men's or women's cross country to lead their team in time this season.

Dustin Iacovone, a senior from Westerville, Ohio, finished second individually for the men's team with a time of 28:35.80. Junior Erik Morris (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished third nearly four seconds after Iacovone with a time of 28:39.58.

Rounding out the finishers for the men's team were junior Mitch Stith (Sunbury, Ohio) 28:51.56, freshman Kyle Arvan (Gladstone, Michigan) 28:51.73, senior Bret Nehrenz (Seville, Ohio) 28:56.79 and freshman Phil Baer (Westerville, Ohio) 29:09.10.

The women's cross country team was once again led by senior Emma McCarron (Mansfield, Ohio) who had another impressive outing to her senior season with a finish of eighth overall – just three seconds off of her school record from last week.

McCarron's time of 18:37.20 was good enough to also place 19th overall out of 298 Division I, II, III and NAIA competitors.

Finishing just beneath the 29-minute mark were junior Shelby Rohr (Nova, Ohio) 21:58.66 and senior Jess Cooper (Springfield, Ohio) 21:59.18 as they crossed the finish line with near identical times.

Also placing for the women's team were juniors Samantha Watts (LaGrange, Ohio) 23:22.93 and Megan Brown (Cleveland, Ohio) 27:35.30.

Both the Capital men's and women's cross country teams will run again on October 13h at Inter-Regionals in Oberlin, Ohio.
