Capital University junior Devan Boggs has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced late Thursday.

An infielder from West Jefferson, Ohio, Boggs led the Crusaders in nine statistical categories and earned a reputation as one of the most dangerous offensive players in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

She carries a 3.46 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and is majoring in exercise science/pre-physical therapy.

Boggs led the team and currently ranks third in the OAC with a .459 batting average. She led the team and leads the league in slugging percentage (.789) and total bases (105), and ranks among the top three in the conference in on-base percentage (.500), hits (61), doubles (15) and triples (4). Boggs also finished with seven home runs and seven stolen bases.

Boggs was named OAC Player of the Week on April 2 after hitting .647 with three doubles, three homers, seven runs scored and six RBIs in the previous week, helping Capital to a season-best nine-game winning streak. She also received the school's Gene Slaughter Award for athletic and academic excellence on April 18 at the Honors Convocation.

The 2010 OAC Rookie of the Year is a two-time All-OAC selection and a two-time Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Central Region second team honoree. Boggs is one of five student-athletes from OAC schools to be selected Academic All-District, and is eligible to be named an Academic All-American.
