NFCA Release
Capital University junior Devan Boggs was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Central Region first team, the organization announced earlier this week.
A West Jefferson, Ohio, native, Boggs earned the all-region honor for the third time in her career. The shortstop was picked to the second team in both 2010 and 2011.
A first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection, Boggs maintained her reputation as one of the most feared hitters in the region in 2012. She currently leads the conference in on-base percentage (.500) and slugging percentage (.789), and is second in the league with a .459 batting average. Boggs also ranked among the top five in doubles (15) and triples (4). She tied the season record and took the career lead for doubles all-time at Capital.
Boggs has racked up numerous accolades during her standout career. In addition to her first team All-OAC honor, she was named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII first team by CoSIDA, and earned OAC Hitter of the Week on April 2. Boggs is a former OAC Rookie of the Year (2010) and is a three-time all-conference pick overall.
Boggs was one of five players in the OAC to receive first team all-region recognition.
