Capital University junior Devan Boggs added yet another accolade to her decorated career as she earned Softball Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honorable mention, the league announced Friday, May 25.

Boggs, who last week became the Crusader softball team's fourth All-American with her selection to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III third team, currently maintains a 3.46 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. She is majoring in exercise science/pre-physical therapy.

Prior to the conclusion of the season, Boggs was recognized at the university's Honors Convocation on April 18 after winning the Gene Slaughter Award for athletic and academic excellence. In addition, she was picked to the Capital One Academic All-District VII first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A two-time first team all-conference honoree, Boggs led the league in batting average (.459), on-base percentage (.500) and slugging percentage (.789). The shortstop also led the team in runs (33), hits (61), triples (4) and a program-record tying 15 doubles, and totaled seven home runs and seven stolen bases.

Boggs was selected first team All-OAC and first team NFCA Division III All-Central Region following the year. She was the OAC Rookie of the Year in 2010, when she also earned second team All-OAC and second team all-region merits.

Award winners were selected by the OAC faculty athletic representatives. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 GPA, be a starter or key reserve and be in at least his or her second year of participation in the sport.
