Capital University senior Devan Boggs has been named by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 first team, the organization announced Thursday, May 2.

Boggs, a West Jefferson, Ohio, native, is one of seven players from the Ohio Athletic Conference picked to the team. She currently carries a 3.53 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and will graduate this May with a degree in exercise science/pre-physical therapy.

Boggs, who was also selected to the Academic All-District first team last season, leads the Crusaders and ranks among conference leaders in several statistical categories, including batting average (.482), hits (68), doubles (12), triples (5), home runs (11), runs batted in (47), total bases (123) and slugging percentage (.872).

The shortstop is one of three seniors on this year's team, which enters the postseason as the No. 1 seed in the OAC Tournament after winning the regular season conference championship outright. The Crusaders are currently ranked second in the region, and yesterday entered the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 25 at No. 22 in the country.

Boggs is a two-time first team All-OAC honoree and former league Rookie of the Year. She became the program's fourth-ever All-American in 2012 after being named to the third team by the NFCA.

Capital hosts Marietta tomorrow at noon to start the double-elimination tournament. The winner of the conference tournament will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
