Capital University senior Stacy Timmerman has been selected Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 14-20, the league announced Monday, Jan. 21.

Timmerman, a forward from New Bremen, Ohio, averaged 24.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 54.5 percent from the field and 92.9 percent from the free throw line in a pair of road games last week, both Capital victories. She scored a career-high 29 points and made all 11 of her free throw attempts to lead the Crusaders to a 67-56 victory at Marietta on Wednesday.

Three days later, Timmerman paced Capital with 20 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a 70-55 triumph at Baldwin Wallace. She tallied 15 of her points in the second half to help the Crusaders pull away and remain alone in fourth place in the league standings, one game behind second-place teams Mount Union and Otterbein heading into the second half of the conference season.

Timmerman enters the week ranked eighth in the conference in scoring at 13.1 points per game. She leads the league in offensive rebounding (2.82 per game) and is averaging a team-best 6.2 rebounds per contest.

Timmerman, who has scored 16 or more points in four of her last six games, has scored 938 points during her four-year career. With 62 more points, she could become the 19th player in program history to reach 1,000 for her career.

Capital (12-5 overall, 7-3 OAC) visits Heidelberg Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. before a 2 p.m. showdown on Saturday at No. 25 Mount Union.

Timmerman is the second women's basketball student-athlete to earn the honor this year. Junior forward Jamie Caton (Hilliard, Ohio) was named OAC Player of the Week on Jan. 2.

Each week, OAC coaches and sports information directors nominate student-athletes for each sport in season for the award.
