The Capital University women's basketball team, in partnership with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Columbus affiliate and the Ohio Athletic Conference, will host a "Hoops for the Cure" game this Wednesday as part of the Crusaders' 7:30 p.m. contest against Wilmington.
Capital encourages all its fans, including students, student-athletes, faculty and staff, coaches, parents and alumni to get involved in the event, which is intended to raise funds and awareness for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure's fight against breast cancer.
Fans attending Wednesday's event are also encouraged to join coaches and players in wearing pink to show their support of the initiative.
T-shirts and baked goods will be sold for the benefit, and a mini-silent auction will open one hour before tip-off and close at the end of halftime. Items up for bid include a slightly-used Capital Crusaders Ping golf bag, a Nike Capital travel outfit, Capital women's basketball gift baskets and more. T-shirts will be sold for $10 each.
The group will also accept direct donations – checks should be written out to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Donations can also be made online at www.komencolumbus.org.
The Susan G. Komen for the Cure works to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all affected and energizing science to find the cures.
