Capital University junior Maggie Donnellan has been selected to the 2012 NCAA Division III Women All-Great Lakes Region second team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the organization announced earlier this week.

Donnellan, a goalkeeper from Cincinnati, Ohio, earned Ohio Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year accolades for the second consecutive season in 2012. She finished among conference leaders in goals against average (0.98), saves (73) and save percentage (.802) and was a part of four shutouts.

Donnellan played nearly 1,647 minutes and helped the Crusaders post a 10-8-2 overall record, a third-place finish in the league and an appearance in the OAC Tournament quarterfinals.

"We are extremely pleased that Maggie earned a place among the best in the Great Lakes Region," Capital coach Chris Kouns said. "We feel that she has an amazing amount of potential and with each year she grows in her on-field abilities and leadership.

"As great as honor as it is for Maggie, it's also a great honor for the team around her. They certainly play a role in helping her achieve the success she's achieved the past two seasons."

In 2011, Donnellan helped guide Capital to an OAC Tournament championship and appearance in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. She finished with a 13-7-2 mark and eight shutouts during that campaign.

Donnellan is one of just four OAC student-athletes to be picked first- or second-team all-region.

"I would also like to thank goalkeeping coach Andrea Kaminski for her on-going work with Maggie," Kouns said. "When 'Dre' arrived two years ago, Maggie let her know that her personal goal was to be OAC Goalkeeper of the Year. Two years later, she has two Goalkeeper of the Year awards and all-region recognition … our players and staff are fortunate to have her."
