Four members of the Capital University football team made significant contributions in the OhioCollegeFootball.com Senior Bowl III Saturday to help the South All-Stars defeat the North team 21-7 at Crew Stadium in Columbus.

Former Crusaders Josh Anderson (Columbus, Ohio), Garrett Bennington (Cambridge, Ohio), Jon Figel (Mingo Junction, Ohio) and Troy Spiker (Rootstown, Ohio) each appeared in the game, which featured players from all college divisions from institutions throughout Ohio.

Anderson, a 2011 second-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, finished with 73 all-purpose yards (22 rushing, 22 receiving, 29 return). The running back made a key 22-yard reception on third down in the first quarter to set up the South's first touchdown.

A first-team All-OAC and third-team All-North Region linebacker, Spiker finished third on the team with seven tackles (four solo), including two for a loss.

Bennington, who played a number of positions for Capital during his career, was picked to the roster as a punter, finishing with a 37.5-yard average and pinning the North inside the 20-yard line on two different occasions.

Figel, a second-team all-conference member, played in the offensive line rotation. He helped the South rush for 76 yards and pass for another 202.

After the North took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, the South responded with two scores in the second and another touchdown in the fourth to score 21 unanswered points. Wittenberg quarterback Ben Zoeller (10-for-13, 123 yards, 2 TDs) was named the offensive Most Valuable Player, while Youngstown State defensive tackle Andrew Johnson (six tackles, 2.5 sacks) was selected defensive MVP.
