Capital University sophomore Travis Bosanac was named Ohio Athletic Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, Sept. 17.

Bosanac, a kicker from Strongsville, Ohio, booted two field goals – one from 33 yards and one from 45 – and kicked an extra point in the Crusaders' 13-7 victory over Marietta on Saturday at Bernlohr Stadium. He also averaged 60.8 yards per kickoff and recorded one touchback.

Bosanac's second kick came with 3:16 on the clock and put the team ahead by six, forcing the Pioneers to go for a touchdown on their ensuing possession rather than being able to kick a field goal to tie the contest.

"If we gave out game balls, Travis would have received one of them," Capital coach Henry Stanford said. "He hit two long field goals, one that helped us ice the game. He just had a great performance."

For the season, Bosanac, who in 2011 was a member of the Capital men's soccer team, leads the team in points (12) and is 3-for-3 on both field goals and extra points.

"I'm very comfortable with Travis anywhere within the 30-40 yard range, but I have full confidence that he can go farther than that, which is why we gave him the opportunity Saturday," Stanford said.

Bosanac is majoring in finance economics with a minor in mathematics.

Each week, OAC coaches and sports information directors nominate student-athletes for each sport in season for the award.
